Every IBD project starts with a digital workplace assessment, where we work with you in interactive workshops and analysis activities, to jointly analyse the current situation in your company and identify key drivers and priorities for your proposed digital workplace. You get to know us and our methodology and at the end you have a detailed report on your digital workplace vision, the state of your Enterprise Collaboration and suggested actions and improvements. If you like what you see and get the go ahead to continue with this initiative, we will then continue to the next steps in developing your digital workplace design.
People and work
The second phase focuses on an in-depth examination of the structure and nature of your workplace, with an analysis of the people, work areas and work modes involved. Here we develop rich Workscapes to capture the different places where work is taking place, the different types of activities and people involved and the technology support required. These are then developed into use cases and workspace designs that specify the appropriate collaboration technology and information support requirements.
Technology platform
Once we have identified the work support requirements and the workspace designs, we work with you to build a collaboration software portfolio that meets your preferences for software operations (cloud/on-premises). We provide you with a market overview of current standard software products and assist you with the evaluation and selection of the required tools, the identification of technical integration requirements and the planning of the implementation project.
Performance monitoring
Once your collaboration platform is established and the different Workscapes have been implemented, it is necessary to monitor the performance of your collaboration platform. Technologies and work practices are continuously evolving and it is important to frequently review the performance of your digital workplace and collaboration platform. In this phase we work with you to define appropriate performance indicators and to develop a process for performance monitoring that will enable you to continuously improve the digital workplace.

Your Digital Workplace should deliver an integrated technology platform that provides you – regardless of location and time zones - with all the tools and services for effectively undertaking your daily work, both alone and with others. We work alongside you to strategically coordinate and manage a comprehensive Digital Workplace based on designs that are flexible and sustainable and capable of being adapted to meet future organisational requirements and technologies.
The IBD Methodology for Enterprise Collaboration was developed by a team of researchers at the University of Koblenz. The methodology comprises a set of methods and tools for the analysis of collaborative work and the design of a collaboration platform to support people in their professional work. The methodology was developed and tested with a group of 30+ user companies and has been refined and extended over a period of 6 years.
